3i promotes Nolan

3i, the UK-listed private equity firm, has promoted Ian Nolan, managing director of its European buyouts team, to run its UK buyouts business.

Nolan started at 3i in 1987 in Manchester and in 2004 came back to London as a managing director within 3i’s European Buyouts business.

Jonathan Russell, managing partner and global head of buyouts, said: “Over the last five years we have built an international mid-market buyout business. Ian’s part in helping develop the UK business into a truly international one makes this a perfect role for him.”

Nolan’s most recent deals include selling Betapharm, a generic pharmaceutical company, to India’s Dr Reddy’s Laboratories; buying Thomson Directories; funding Telecity; and floating Morse.
