A New Year for Day

The New Year brings new beginnings, especially for Rob Day, who just sent an email to say that he’s moving on to join @Ventures in Boston.

Day, whowas aprincipal at San Francisco-based Expansion Capital Partners, is well known in investment circles for his blog, which covers the world of cleantech. Apparently, nothing will change with the blog, for now, which already lists Day as a principal with @Ventures, even though Day says his gig doesn’t officially start ’til Feb. 1.

In his email, Day says that his family is looking forward to relocating to the East Coast. “My tenure at Expansion Capital has been very fun, productive and educational.” Day joined the firm in 2004 and launched his blog in early ’05.

It’s worth noting that last year, Expansion held an initial close of $55 million on its second fund and was hoping to nail down $80 million early this year, according toour August story in PE Week (sorry, for subscribers only).

Meanwhile, @Ventures is investing from its fifth fund mostly on cleantech energy deals, but with a broad focus on cleantech, software, Internet technologies and technologies applied to IT or physical security applications.
