Ashurst Morris Crisp grows

Gonzalo Jimenez-Blanco has joined Ashurst Morris Crisp from BT Ignite Espana General Counsel. The appointment follows a long period of organic growth for Ashurst’s Spanish practice, following the hire of Jesus Almoguera and his team of lawyers from Arino & Almoguera last October.

Jimenez Blanco will work across Ashurst’s international finance and telecoms law practices. The firm’s clients will benefit from his extensive experience at BT Ignite and the expertise gained from his high profile roles within the Spanish administration as secretary of the board and head of the legal department at the Istituto de Credito Oficial (the Spanish state financial agency) and as deputy head of the legal department at the CNMV, the Spanish securities and exchange commission.

Geoffrey Green, Ashursts’ senior partner, said: “The appointment of Gonzalo Jimenez-Blanco is a further boost to our Madrid office and in particular to our international finance capabilities there. Our Spanish practice has grown considerably in the last 12 months and reflects the firm’s commitment to building a high quality business across Europe and the wider international markets.”
