At press time, Buyouts learned that RHJ Industrial Partners LP, an affiliate of New York-based Ripplewood Holdings LLC has agreed to acquire a 40% interest in Niles Parts Co. Ltd., an automotive switches and assemblies company, from Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.

The transaction represents the first private equity investment in the Japanese manufacturing segment.

Ripplewood Holdings in 1999 became the first foreign investor to purchase a Japanese lending institution when it led a consortium of investors in acquiring the Shinsei Bank of Japan. Watch for a full article on the Niles Parts deal in the April 23 issue of Buyouts.
