AT&T hires Canterbury Consulting executive for private equity

  • Former alternatives director Ranlett retired this year
  • Fink worked at Canterbury for about two years
  • Previously worked at StepStone, Parish Capital

Kimling Fink, a private equity consultant at Canterbury Consulting, joined AT&T’s pension on the PE team, according to a person with knowledge of the move.

Fink changed her LinkedIn profile indicating she joined AT&T in June as a director. McCall Butler, a spokeswoman for AT&T, declined to comment.

It’s unclear whether Fink is the direct successor to Frank Ranlett, former director of alternative investments, who retired earlier this year.

She worked at Canterbury from June 2014 to June 2016, her LinkedIn page shows. Previously, she was a senior associate at StepStone Group from April 2012 to May 2014 and an associate at Parish Capital Advisors from 2007 to 2012, the profile says.

AT&T corporate pension’s target to private equity ranges from 4 percent to 14 percent, and it hovered around 12 percent in 2015, AT&T’s annual report said. The plan’s net assets were about $42.1 billion at Dec. 31, 2015, the report said.

Ranlett ran a portfolio of PE, natural resources and real estate that in 2014 was valued at about $10 billion, according to a court document.
