AXA loses van de Water

Sasha van de Water, managing director of AXA Private Equity has left the firm’s London office where she was responsible for primary funds-of-funds. In the next month AXA will be looking to reinforce the fund-of-funds team, which comprises nine professionals based in London and New York. The London office, previously headed by van de Water manages assets of EURO600 million.

Vincent Gombault, the member of AXA Private Equity’s executive committee who oversees the entire fund-of-funds business, said van de Water’s move was not part of a larger restructuring programme. He said the group, which manages some EURO4.1 billion of private equity assets including 270 LP positions, is working to co-operate more on a global level. As well as the Paris and London offices, AXA Private Equity is present in New York and Frankfurt. Paris-based Christophe Florin is responsible for secondary fund-of-funds.

Gombault said he was not able to comment on why van de Water left the group or her plans for the future.
