Bar Cap names vice-chairman

Barclays Capital, the investment arm of the UK banking group, has hired John Lovering, founder of Echelon Capital, the London-headquartered property investment firm.

Lovering will work alongside Roger Jenkins, head of principal investing and private equity, to develop the banks position as an equity provider in leveraged transactions.

Also joining, as directors, are Nick Heslop and Paul Morris, Lovering’s partners at Echelon. The current chairman of UK retail store Debenhams, Lovering has been involved with 12 private equity owned companies, nine of which have been exits, including the aforementioned Debenhams, which floated in 2006.
