Biofund in Copenhagen

Finland-based venture capital firm, Bio Fund Management Ltd will be opening a branch office in Copenhagen, Denmark this year. The company currently has offices in Helsinki and Turku. In line with plans for international expansion, the company also has plans to recruit an additional five members to its team. At present, BioFund manages two funds with total capital of A100 million. The company is in the process of setting up a new fund, which will significantly increase the pool of capital available for investment.

Biofund’s board chairman, Dr Kalevi Kurkijrvi stated: “BioFund operates mainly in Europe, but our expertise in management of the Nordic investment market is our special strength. By opening a branch office in Copenhagen, we want to deepen our presence and impact in this market area, in which our investments are growing rapidly. The Copenhagen-Malm axis forms the “Medicon Valley” area, which has developed into one of the most important know-how centres in the life sciences.”
