BoS helps Healthcare Scotland exit

Aberdeen Murray Johnstone Private Equity and Granville Baird have exited their stake in

Healthcare Scotland, a private hospital group headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland. Aberdeen Murray Johnstone Private Equity and Granville Baird backed the management buyout of Healthcare Scotland in 1996.

Derek Chappell and Ron Russell were the MBO team, which was backed in 1996 and they

have now successfully completed the buy back of all institutional investment with assistance from the Bank of Scotland.

This completes a staged exit from the business and, for Aberdeen Murray Johnstone

Private Equity, which invested GBP2 million out of the GBP3.5 million required in the 1996 management buyout, the invested amount has resulted in a 30 per cent IRR over the life of the investment.

Since its buyout, Healthcare has grown substantially and now comprises the Albyn Hospital

in Aberdeen, Fernbrae Hospital in Dundee, Cheadle Hospital in Cheshire and recent acquisitions in Teeside and Canada.
