Caisse head of U.S. fund investing leaves

  • Sanjay Gupta joined the bank in 2015
  • Not clear when or why he left
  • Led U.S. fund investing

Sanjay Gupta, head of U.S. fund investing at Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec, has left the organization after about two years.

Gupta is no longer listed on the website, his email no longer works and his direct phone line is disconnected.

Jean-Benoit Houde, spokesman for Caisse, declined comment. Gupta did not respond to a LinkedIn request for comment.

When or why Gupta left the bank is unclear. He joined in 2015 from Adveq, where he was an executive director and head of U.S. buyout investing. Prior to joining Adveq in 2008, he’d been an associate at Lehman Brothers.

When Gupta joined the bank, known as Caisse, he was reporting to Frederic Godbout, senior vice president and head of fund investing. Godbout is now deputy head of the private equity group.

Patrick Lynch, who joined in 2016, is overall head of fund investing and partnerships. Lynch joined from Mubadala Development Co, where he was head of funds and global investment partnerships.

Caisse had about $30.4 billion in PE net assets as of Dec. 31, 2016, representing about 11.3 percent of the bank’s overall portfolio. Caisse had $270.7 billion in total net assets as of that date.
