Four finalists are in the running to be selected for the California Public Employees’ Retirement System’s (CalPERS) pool of special projects consultants. They are: Pension Consulting Alliance of Studio City, Calif.; Tacoma, Wash.-based Russell Investment Group; R.V. Kuhns of Portland, Ore.; and San Francisco-based Strategic Investment Solutions.
With the exception of Russell, all have existing contracts with the Sacramento-based public pension fund.
CalPERS’ investment committee will announce its selections at its May meeting. The pension fund will use the consultants for their expertise on any special projects pursued by its investment committee. The contracts, worth up to$1 million, will become effective July 1.
The pension fund manages a $166 billion investment portfolio. Its private equity allocation is worth approximately $7.8 billion.
