Capiton sells EHR

German buyouts specialist Capiton has sold high pressure piping business Essener Hochdruck Rohrleitungsbau (EHR) to Bilfinger Berger for an undisclosed sum. It brings to an end a two-year relationship between caption and EHR, which began in April 2004 when the private equity firm backed an MBO from Technip, a French engineering and plant construction company.

By acquiring EHR, Bilfinger will now be able to provide all piping services, from design, delivery and installation to repair, maintenance and turnarounds, from one source. EHR works on both conventional and nuclear power plants, industrial plants and municipal heating networks.

With 800 employees, EHR is to generate an output volume of approximately €160m, which is expected to rise to over €200m within a few years as a result in the growing power plant market, which has to cope with a rising demand for energy as well increased environmental regulation.
