Utilities is followed by the medical/health sector with 4 years to an exit and biotechnology with 4.3 years. On the other end of the spectrum, construction and transportation companies take the longest to reach an exit for U.S.-based buyout firms, at 8.5 years and 9.1 years, respectively.
