Cogen Partners co-founder joins landmark

A familiar face on the secondary market has made the jump from advisor to participant in secondary deals.

Ian Charles has joined secondary firm Landmark Partners as vice president, the firm announced last week. Charles was co-founder of Dallas-based secondary investment bank and advisory firm Cogent Partners.

At Cogent, Charles directed the firm’s private equity research and helped broker large secondary deals, including some with Landmark.

Prior to co-founding Cogent, Charles served on The Crossroads Group’s due diligence staff.

Charles will work out of Landmark’s Simsbury, Conn., headquarters. The firm has offices Boston and London.

Meanwhile, Landmark Partners expects to close on up to $1 billion for its new fund, Landmark Equity Partners XIII. The firm anticipates a close near the end of the first quarter, The firm was founded in 1984 and has about $4.6 billion under management.
