Dorset Cereals sold

Langholm Capital, a UK mid-market buyouts firm which focuses on European consumer facing companies, has sold Dorset Cereals to Wellness Foods.

Dorset Cereals, as its name suggests, produces a range of breakfast food products, including muesli, porridge, flakes and cereal bars.

It was acquired by Longholm in April 2005, and since then has relaunched in both the UK and abroad. In 2007, sales almost doubled, with the business becoming the second most popular muesli brand in the UK and the fastest growing mainstream breakfast cereals company. Employee numbers have more than doubled to over 100 during the same time.

Bert Wiegman, partner at Langholm Capital, said: “Dorset Cereals has been a highly successful investment for Langholm Capital’s investors. During our ownership we have worked closely with management, to develop the brand strategy and growth plans and seen branded UK sales accelerate strongly.”
