Dreams on verge of buyout

THE founders of bed retailer Dreams are believed to be on the verge of selling the company in a deal which could net them £200m.

According to press reports, Dreams chairman Mike Clare and his wife are considering three bids they have received for the business, with a management buyout backed by private equity firm Exponent Private Equity thought to be the frontrunner.

Dreams, which was founded in 1987, now operates from more than 170 stores across Britain.

According to a report in the Sunday Telegraph, Mike Clare said that although there were three potential buyers in the frame, “I might decide not to sell at all”.
