European Capital poaches staff from Credit Suisse

European Capital has appointed Alex Morey as director and Julian Masters as investment director to the UK buyout team in its London office. Both had previously worked for Credit Suisse Private Equity.

European Capital also announced the appointment of Athesan Guna and Ivan Stoyanov as associates. They join Simon Henderson, managing director, Giles Cheek, director, and Fergus Hall, investment director.

“They all join us from highly regarded private equity firms and as a group have broad experience in the origination, execution, transformation and realisation of private equity investments in a broad range of sectors,” said Ira Wagner, president of European capital services.

Prior to joining Credit Suisse Private Equity, where he also held the position of director, Alex Morey worked for Arthur Andersen Corporate Finance, where he advised on UK buyouts. Previously, Morey worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the corporate finance team, where he qualified as a chartered accountant in 1991.

Masters was also a director at Credit Suisse Private Equity and represented the firm on the boards of various portfolio companies, including Grohe, Safilo and Vistorm. Prior to Credit Suisse Private Equity, Masters was with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ transaction services group, including a nine-month secondment to Bridgepoint Capital in London.

In addition, Athesan Guna joins European capital services from Merrill Lynch & Co and Ivan Stoyanov joins from McKinsey & Company.
