Ex-Yahoo exec leaving 3i

Daniel Waterhouse is leaving 3i Group, where he has spent the past 20 months as a London-based partner focused on digital media and technology opportunities.

In an email to friends and colleagues, Waterhouse said that this was his final week with 3i, and that he’d be “resurfacing shortly with another venture capital firm.” No additional details were disclosed.

Waterhouse joined 3i at the beginning of 2006, after having spent six years in the corporate development department of Yahoo. In that role, he focused on both acquisitions and European market expansion. Before that, he spent three years as a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Most of Waterhouse’s deals with 3i have been of the venture capital variety, including BuyVIP (private online shopping community), Fotolog (photo blogging), Garlik.com (online identity management) and Carbonite.com (online PC backup).
