Venrock adds Pasternack

Bruce Pasternack has joined Venrock as an operating partner, with a focus on the venture firm’s energy portfolio. He previously was a venture partner with CMEA Capital and before that was a former U.S. government energy official and energy consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. Venrock is currently investing from a $540 million fifth fund that it closed in 2007.

Monitor Clipper promotes four

Cambridge, Mass.-based Monitor Clipper Partners has made four promotions. Tom Perkins was named operating partner, Samer Ezzeddine and David Sheffer were each promoted to vice president and Jennifer DuBois was appointed fund accounting manager.

Third Rock names EIR

, founder and former CEO of CombinatoRx, has joined Third Rock Ventures as an entrepreneur-in-residence.

GCP adds Deutsch

has joined GCP Capital as a managing director. He previously was CEO of GCP portfolio company Ironshore Inc.
