Matrix hires Hannah as GPJosh Hannah has joined Matrix Partners as a general partner. He previously was co-founder and CEO of Betfair (f.k.a Flutter.com), a London-based developer of an online marketplace for sports betting.

Lightspeed beefs up India office

Bejul Somaia

has joined the India affiliate of Lightspeed Venture Partners as a managing director. He previously was co-managing director of Twiga Fiberglass, an Indian building materials company.

Carmel promotes two

Carmel Ventures has promoted Itzik Avidor and Ronen Nir each to the position of partner. Ronen previously served as a principal, while Itzik was CFO and will continue to serve in that role.

Evercore adds Gillespie

Robert Gillespie

has joined Evercore Partners as a London-based senior managing director in the firm’s advisory business. He is the former vice chairman of UBS Investment Bank.

Irving Place loses COO

Gwyneth Ketterer

reportedly is leaving Irving Place Capital, where she has served as COO and senior managing director. Private Equity Online reported that she plans to teach at Columbia University’s school of business, though the details are not known.

The Foundry boosts staff

Erik Engelson and Jeffry Grainger have joined medical device incubator The Foundry as managing partners. Engelson previously was president and CEO of Cierra. He also has served in roles with Versant Ventures and Institutional Venture Partners. Grainger previously was vice president of corporate affairs and general counsel with Xtent Inc.

Genstar promotes Nadauld

Genstar Capital has promoted James Nadauld to principal. Nadauld joined the firm in 2004 as a senior associate, and was later promoted to vice president. He focuses on the health care sector, and currently serves on the board of Genstar portfolio companies Oncure Medical Corp. and Univita Health Inc.

Dobbs heads to Welsh Carson

Randy Dobbs

has joined Welsh Carson Anderson & Stowe as a senior operating executive. He is the former CEO of U.S. Investigations Services.

Bloomfield flies over to Pegasus

Lincoln Bloomfield Jr. has joined Pegasus Capital Advisors as an operating advisor. He has held several senior governmental positions, and most recently was a Presidential Special Envoy charged with reducing the threat to global aviation from shoulder-fired missiles.

CitizenHawk taps Stout as COO

Brody Stout has been named COO of CitizenHawk Inc., an Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based provider of technology that helps protect brands from cyber-squatters. He previously was a senior associate with Maveron, an investor in CitizenHawk.

Barber leaves Citi

John Barber

has resigned as head of Citi Private Equity, according to LBO Wire. He has been with the firm for 14 years.

Activa names COO

Jean-Hugues Verdu

has joined French buyout firm Activa Capital as chief operating officer. He previously was a Paris-based director with Alvarez & Marsal.

Advent adds to Prague team

Peter Nachtnebel

has agreed to join Advent International, as a Prague-based member of the firm’s Central & Eastern Europe team. He previously was with UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking, as a managing director and head of financial sponsors and leveraged finance for Central & Eastern Europe.
