Ex-NFL QB joins Constellation team

Steve Bono

, a former NFL quarterback, has joined Constellation Wealth Advisors as a principal in the firm’s Menlo Park, Calif.-based office. Bono was a principal with ThinkEquity Partners in San Francisco before joining Constellation. Bono spent 15 years as an NFL quarterback, playing for seven teams, including a five-year stint with the San Francisco 49ers. He retired from the NFL in 2000, and the next year he joined his former 49ers teammates Harris Barton, Ronnie Lott and Joe Montana at fund-of-funds firm Champion Ventures (the predecessor to HRJ Capital).

C.P. Eaton adds Boston

Loren Boston has joined C.P. Eaton Partners as a managing director, and head of the firm’s global private equity fund-raising business. He previously was managing director and global head of origination for Merrill Lynch’s private equity funds group.

Hamadeh joins Lightspeed

Samer Hamadeh has joined Lightspeed Venture Partners as an entrepreneur-in-residence. He is the former co-founder and CEO of Vault.com.

Khanna leaves Warburg Pincus

Rajesh Khanna

has resigned as a managing director in charge of Warburg Pincus’ India operations. He reportedly will form his own firm and try to raise a private equity fund in excess of $250 million.

Shen to head Asia at Olympus

Olympus Capital has put David Shen in charge of its Asian operations. He previously had been running the firm’s Japan business.

Claritas Capital adds EIR
Mark Montgomery has joined Claritas Capital as the firm’s first entrepreneur-in-residence. Montgomery was co-founder of Echo, a Nashville, Tenn.-based digital media and services company acquired by IAC/Ticketmaster in 2007.

Toncheva jumps to Tugboat

Dafina Toncheva

has joined Tugboat Ventures as a partner, after having spent the past two years with Venrock.

Broadpoint unit has new head

Broadpoint Capital has named Michael Volcker as head of the investment grade group in its debt capital markets unit. He joined the firm last July from Bank of America, and he had been running Broadpoint’s preferred/hybrids unit within the debt capital markets division.

Bernal beats a path to NEA

Ron Bernal has joined New Enterprise Associates as a venture partner. He previously was a partner with Sequel Venture Partners, and is a director on NEA portfolio companies Boulder Wind Power, Data Robotics, HelioVolt and ProStor.

Hull joins Providence

Robert Hull

has agreed to join Providence Equity Partners as CFO. He will succeed Raymond Mathieu, who will become a managing director focused on special projects. Hull most recently was CFO of GMAC.

Advent adds Brown

Robert Brown

has joined Advent International as a managing director and global head of limited partner services. He previously was a managing director with The Carlyle Group, focused on fund-raising and investor relations.

Carlyle hires Petrick

Mitch Petrick

has agreed to join The Carlyle Group as head of the firm’s leveraged finance and mezzanine business in the U.S. and Europe. He previously ran trading operations for Morgan Stanley, before leaving in a management shakeup.
