SAIC scoops up CloudShield

SAIC

(NYSE: SAI) has agreed to acquire CloudShield Technologies Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based provider of IP services control and security solutions. No financial terms were disclosed for the deal, which is expected to close in the middle of next month. CloudShield has raised more than $65 million in VC funding since 2002 from Tektronix Inc., ComVentures, TPG Growth, Foundation Capital and Paladin Capital.

Time Warner goes shopping for StyleFeeder

(NYSE: TWX) has acquired StyleFeeder, a Cambridge, Mass.-based personal shopping engine. No financial terms were disclosed, although the Wall Street Journal reported that the sale price was “well into eight figures.” StyleFeeder had raised more than $3.5 million in VC funding from Highland Capital Partners and Schooner Capital.

Thermo Fisher buys Ahura for $145M

(NYSE: TMO) has agreed to acquire Ahura Scientific Inc., a Wilmington, Mass.-based developer of optical systems for the detection of unknown and suspect substances. The deal is valued at $145 million in cash, plus an undisclosed amount of earnouts based on 2010 financial milestones. Ahura Scientific has raised nearly $30 million from ARCH Venture Partners, Castile Ventures, Fuse Capital (f.k.a. ComVentures) and GF Private Equity.

E*Trade grabs some Cake

E*Trade Financial has acquired Cake Financial Inc., a San Francisco-based provider of a free online social network for individual investors. No financial terms were disclosed for the deal. Cake had raised a small amount of VC funding from Alsop Louie Partners, Bay Partners and KPG Ventures.

IDT buys Mobius

IDT

(Nasdaq: IDTI) has acquired Mobius Microsystems, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based provider of all-silicon oscillator technology. No pricing terms of the all-cash deal were disclosed. Mobius Microsystems had raised about $19 million in VC funding from Foundation Capital, Menlo Ventures and RPM Ventures.

Life acquires AcroMetrix

Life Technologies Corp.

(Nasdaq: LIFE) has agreed to acquire AcroMetrix, a Benicia, Calif.-based provider of controls and standards for molecular diagnostics tests. No financial terms were disclosed. AcroMetrix has raised a small amount of VC funding from Telegraph Hill Partners.

Verari sells assets to founder

Verari Systems

, a San Diego-based provider of data center consolidation platforms, said that most of its assets have been purchased by company founder David Driggers. No financial terms were disclosed. Verari laid off most of its employees last month, as part of what the company called a “controlled reorganization.” It had raised more than $80 million in VC funding from Celerity Partners, Carlyle Venture Partners, Sierra Ventures and Voyager Capital.

CitySquares buys Yokel

CitySquares Online Inc.

, a Boston-based local search startup, has acquired Framingham, Mass.-based rival Yokel.com. No financial terms were disclosed. Yokel was backed by Boston Capital Ventures, while CitySquares has raised a small amount of VC funding from eCoast Angels.
