IBM buys Coremetrics, in talks with Storwize

IBM has agreed to buy Coremetrics Inc., a San Mateo, Calif.-based provider of Web analytics software. No financial terms were disclosed. Coremetrics has raised about $167 million in VC funding since 1999. Current shareholders include Accel Partners, FTV Capital, Highland Capital Partners and W Capital Partners.

Separately, IBM is in talks to acquire data storage company Storwize Inc. for $140 million, according to an Israeli press report. Storwize has raised about $28 million in VC funding from Sequoia Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Tenaya Capital, Tamares Group and Tokyo Electron Device.

Gear6 is music to the ears of Violin Memory

Violin Memory, a Mountain View, Calif.-based developer of flash memory enterprise systems, has acquired the technology assets of Gear6, a developer of storage caching solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. Gear6 raised more than $24 million from Horizon Ventures, U.S. Venture Partners and InterWest Partners. Violin Memory is also venture-backed, having raised more than $16 million from Toshiba Corp.

Check Point scoops up Liquid Machines

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd.

(Nasdaq: CHKP) has acquired Liquid Machines Inc., a Waltham, Mass.-based provider of enterprise rights management solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. Liquid Machines had raised about $37 million in VC funding since 2002 from RRE Ventures, Goldman Sachs, Atlas Venture, Masthead Ventures and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Triton Digital buys StreamTheWorld

has acquired StreamTheWorld, a Montreal-based content delivery network focused on the broadcast industry. No financial terms were disclosed. StreamTheWorld had raised VC funding from Propulsion Ventures.

Synopsys buys Synfora

Synopsys Inc.

(Nasdaq: SNPS) has acquired Synfora Inc., a Mountain View, Calif.-based provider of algorithmic synthesis tools for IC and system designers. No financial terms were disclosed. Synfora has raised about $27 million in VC funding from ATA Ventures, Foundation Capital, Wafra Partners, U.S. Venture Partners and Xilinx.

CrowdGather gathers up Adisn

CrowdGather

(OTCBB: CRWG) has acquired Adisn Inc., a Long Beach, Calif.-based online ad network, for $5.5 million in stock. Adisn had raised more than $1 million in VC funding from Battery Ventures and MHS Capital.
