Jon Moulton has been named Best Equity Turnaround Financier of the Year. The award was presented by Doug MacDonald of the London Society of Chartered Accountants’ Turnaround Finance Group and is in recognition of Moulton’s “outstanding profiling” of the turnaround finance industry. Moulton is managing partner of the private equity business Alchemy Partners, which he set up in 1997, and this year spent hundreds of hours under intense media scrutiny when the firm put in a bid subsequently withdrawn to buy the ailing Rover business from Germany’s BMW group.
Alchemy’s particular areas of specialisation are turnaround transactions and public to private opportunities, of which they have completed 12 in the UK and one in the US. MacDonald said of the award: “Jon Moulton, more than any other individual, has shown directors and bankers that turnaround finance is available and a positive option to getting distressed companies back on their feet and trading again.”
