Former Ares executive joins Resource Capital Funds

Jeffrey Mills joined Resource Capital Funds as a managing director and global head of investor relations, according to a person with knowledge of the move.

The source said Mills started at the firm recently. No one from RCF returned a call for comment.

Mills joins RCF after working at Brooklands Capital Strategies, a division of TPG Capital BD, in San Francisco as managing director and relationship manager. He joined Brooklands in 2015.

Prior to Brooklands, Mill was a managing director and relationship manager at Ares Management.

Before Ares, Mills was a managing director and head of investor relations at Oak Hill Capital Management. Mills joined Oak Hill in 2007. Prior to that, he worked at Probitas Partners.

Resource Capital Funds is in market with its seventh fund targeting $1.7 billion, the person said. The fund targets investments in mining projects and mining-related companies. RCM closed its sixth fund on a bit more than $2 billion in 2013, according to the firm’s website.
