Harbert Private Equity Fund II LLC of Birmingham, Ala., has filed to raise $200 million through a private offering of LLC units. At the time of its SEC filing, the fund had already raised $81.5 million from 23 accredited investors. The minimum investment of $1 million required on the placement can be waived.

CSFB Private Equity Partners III LP of New York has filed to raise $50 million through a private offering of limited partnership interests. At the time of its SEC filing, the fund had already raised $12.7 million from 22 accredited investors. A minimum investment of $50,000 is required on the placement. Credit Suisse First Boston LLC. of New York is helping to place the issue for $500,000 in sales commissions. The fund plans to invest in other private equity funds, primarily buyout, venture capital and special situations funds.

Ramsfield Mezzanine Partners LLC of Short Hills, N.J., raised $1.3 million from 15 accredited investors through a private placement of limited liability company interests. The minimum investment of $100,000 required on the placement can be waived.

Sequoia Capital XI Principals Fund of Menlo Park, Calif., raised $31.2 million from 23 accredited investors through a private placement of limited liability company interests. The fund plans to make venture capital investments.

Bio-Star Private Equity Fund LLC of Saginaw, Mich., raised $6.2 million from 15 accredited investors through a private placement of membership interests. A minimum investment of $300,000 is required on the placement. The fund announces itself as a venture capital company. The filing includes BioStar Medical Partners among the beneficial owners.
