Goodwin Procter PE team bulks up, names two partners

  • Names James Lee, Jared Spitalnick as partners
  • Firm’s private equity group hired ten people this year
  • Moves sparked by increased middle-market activity

James Lee and Jared Spitalnick, both insiders at the firm for several  years, were named partner as of Oct.1, according to a source familiar with the firm. Both focus on the firm’s growth equity and LBO practices.

All told, Goodwin Procter’s New York-based private equity group employs 38 people, up by 12 since Ilan Nissan and Chris Nugent, partners, joined the firm in 2012.

Nissan and Nugent formerly worked at O’Melveny & Myers before moving over to Goodwin Procter.

Sponsors on the group’s client roster include Insight Venture Partners, The Carlyle Group, Lead Edge Capital, Palladium Equity Partners, Level Equity, Frazier Healthcare and Bregal Sagemount.
