Comments – Greenfield Capital Partners has backed the management buyout of Alcatel Optronics Netherlands, to be known as C2V. The private equity firm invested in the acquisition vehicle Colloseum BV alongside the management team made up of Dr Job Elders, Dr Martin Amersfoort and Dr Vincent Spiering.

The majority of the funding was equity although the size of the transaction was not disclosed. Greenfield supplied the funding from two of its funds, NEThave and Berghave.

Alcatel Optronics designs, manufactures and sells high performance optical components, modules and integrated sub-systems for use in terrestrial and submarine optical telecommunications networks. The company was formed as a result of the merger of Total Micro Solutions and BBV after they were acquired by Kymata in September 2000. Kymata was then acquired by Alcatel Optronics in July 2001.

Sake Wijma, general partner at Greenfield Capital Partners said the company has a very exciting future with a strong management team, talented employee base and clear market presence.
