Greylock backs Zend, adds Mor to board

Zend Technologies, which develops open-source PHP software that allows users to customize Web pages, has raised a $20 million Series D round. New investor Greylock Partners led the round, which included previous investors Azure Capital Partners, Index Ventures, Intel Capital, Platinum Venture Capital, SAP Ventures and Walden Israel Venture Capital.

The company, which has raised about $30 million since 2001, was expected to announce the funding on Monday. Moshe Mor, a partner at Greylock, has joined the board.

Zend will use the backing to expand worldiwde and to speed product development, co-founders Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski said in a press release. The company is based in Cupertino, Calif., and maintains operations in Israel, Germany and France. —Alastair Goldfisher
