I2BF expands

International cleantech-focused investment management group I2BF has appointed David Waserstein as director of investments.

Waserstein joins I2BF from US-based private equity firm Hudson Clean Energy Partners, where he has been since its inception.

As part of his new role, he will be responsible for the firm’s current venture portfolio as well as new investments and the structuring and raising of future VC funds.

I2BF’s team expansion is the result of plans to launch two new funds. Its current offering includes a second US$100m global renewable energy and cleantech-focused VC fund and a €30m water-focused fund.

Established in 2005, I2BF focuses on venture capital and public equity activities in the clean technology sector. Its venture fund has 10 investments in its current portfolio. These include investments in waste water treatment company Epuramat; South Korean-based ultracapacitor manufacturing and power storage solutions company Nesscap; and Nordic WindPower.

I2BF launched a long-short hedge fund investing in global public market opportunities in the cleantech sector in 2008.
