Illinois Teachers’ confirms nearly $1.2bn in commitments

The US public pension backed 13 private equity funds in the second quarter of 2021.

Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois confirmed almost $1.2 billion-worth of private equity commitments in Q2 2021, a contact at the pension told Buyouts.

The commitments comprised $150 million to Trident IX; $125 million apiece to SLR Healthcare Lending FundArbour Lane Credit Opportunity Fund III and TA XIV; $100 million each to MBK Partners Special Situations Fund IIInsight Partners XII and Thomas H Lee Equity Partners IX; $85 million to CapitalSpring Investment Partners VI; $75 million to Providence Strategic Growth V; €50 million to Bregal Unternehmerkapital III; $50 million to TA Select Opportunities Fund II; $40 million to Fintech Collective Fund III; and $25 million to Avance Investment Partners.

Illinois Teachers’ has a 15 percent long-term target allocation to private equity that stands at 14.1 percent.

The $62.9 billion US public pension’s recent private equity fund commitments have predominantly targeted global or US-focused buyout and mezzanine vehicles.
