The US public pension has backed Lightspeed Venture Partners' latest private equity fund.

Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund will commit $30 million to Lightspeed Venture Partners‘ latest private equity fund, according to a press release from the pension.

The pension is investing in Lightspeeds’ fourth venture/growth fund, Lightspeed India Partners IV. IMRF has been a long term and recurrent investor into Lightspeed managed funds, committing $585 million in total across multiple funds to date.

IMRF’s recent private real estate commitments have tended to focus on North America-based vehicles targeting venture/growth equity returns.
