Innovate! 2001 launched

Innovate! 2001 a competition to uncover the UK’s latest inventions and innovations has been launched by Hewlett-Packard and Business Link and will be staged at this year’s BBC Tomorrow’s World Live, at Earl’s Court on June 27-29. (All competition entrants will be invited to exhibit at the event.)

The competition, which is open to everyone in the UK, has two categories: one for individual entrants and one for businesses with fewer than 250 employees. The three criteria by which all entries will be judged are commercial potential, inventiveness and presentation.

There is a total prize pool worth GBP70,000, of which more than half is in cash, including a single prize of GBP20,000 cash and GBP10,000 of computer equipment for the HP Inventor of the Year.

Entry forms can be obtained from south east Business Links or by contacting John Stainer, South East Hampshire Enterprise Agencies, Regional Business Centre, Harts Farm Way, Havant, Hampshire PO9 1HR (Tel 02392 449449). Closing date for entries is May 30, 2001.
