LACERA Pressures L.A. Grocers

The Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association’s (LACERA) Board of Investments last week voted to increase pressure on Southern California supermarket chains in regards to the ongoing labor dispute.

The LACERA staff wrote a letter to the CEOs of Safeway, Kroger and Albertson’s supermarkets and expressed concern over their “confrontational strategy.” LACERA also wrote asimilar letter to private equity firm Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co., which controls four of nine Safeway board seats.
