Comments – TecneT-Sports a Spanish technology company focused on sports and interactive TV has received a euro1.8 million investment from Marco Polo Investments.

Marco Polo Investments is Spain’s first venture capital firm to solely focus on investment in new technology companies. This is the first investment it has made in the new year, and its fourth since it was founded in October 2000. Itinvested euro18 million and acquired a 20 per cent stake in the company.

TecneT-Sports works in several areas. It provides solutions and advanced systems for sports offering the applications and services needed for sports events management such as ticketing, accomodation, transport, scores and real time distribution of information, both to organizers and media.

The company also provides wireless marketing services through WAP, cable and interactive TV technologies. It provides messaging services to mobile phones and e-mailing from TV sets. Other aspects of the company is its development of websites for businesses and organisations and providing e-commerce solutions as well as operating its own sports portal. TecneT-Sports will use the financing for further technological development.
