Part of the success comes from Water Street Healthcare Partners’s effort to complete the fundraising for its third fund in less than two months. The Chicago-based shop started marketing Water Street Healthcare Partners III LP in early June and closed at its $750 million cap.

W.L. Ross & Co. added to the tally with the closing of WLR Recovery Fund V LP at $2.2 billion. The fund had a $4 billion goal. LNK Partners also held the final close of its sophomore fund at its target. The firm, which invests in consumer and retail businesses, secured $400 million for LNK Partners II LP.

Deal Front

Thomson Reuters, the publisher of Buyouts, tracked 33 transactions involving U.S.-based financial sponsors from July 25 to Aug. 7, such as Platinum Equity LLC’s purchase of a 65 percent stake in logistics services provider Caterpillar Logistics Services Inc. from Caterpillar Inc. for $750 million and Sycamore Partners LLC’s purchase of the remaining 90.1 percent it didn’t already own in retailer Talbots Inc. for about $350.8 million.

The eleven with known financial terms combined for $2.5 billion. Year-to-date deal volume is at $48.6 billion.
