New San Francisco office for TVM

German/US venture capital firm Techno Venture Management has opened a new office, this time in San Francisco, strengthening its presence in one of the most dominant biotech and IT regions. The office will concentrate on start-up and later stage investments in the biotechnology sector. Nola Masterson and Devon Giacalone have been appointed as investment managers in the new office.

Masterson was previously chief executive officer of Science Futures Inc., an investment advisory and consulting firm in the biotech industry. She also founded the Biotech Meeting in Laguna Nigel for chief executive officers and The Biopharmaceutical Conference in Europe to support alliances between major pharmaceutical companies and emerging bioscience companies.

Giacalone has over 25 years experience as a venture capitalist, investment banker and senior executive in biotechnology. She has worked in life sciences, diagnostics, laboratory services, software and medical devices and was previously the president and chairman of Dallas Biomedical, a seed venture capital fund that worked closely with the South Western Medical Centre in Dallas.
