NVP Brightstar appts

Venture fund NVP Brightstar has appointed Lynda Connon as its new finance director. NVP Brightstar was created in April 2003 by BT Exact, BT’s research, technology and IT operations business along with New Venture Partners (NVP) and Coller Capital.

NVP Brightstar initially purchased the majority of the existing portfolio of technology ventures developed by BT Exact’s corporate incubator, BT Brightstar. As part of the deal between the three parties, it has exclusive rights to create new start-up businesses with BT Exact using BT’s extensive and developing intellectual property portfolio, Connon joins from Cambridge Corporate Consultants where she was a corporate finance consultant advising clients on financial strategy. Her previous roles include finance director of Netcentric, a Cambridge-based AIM-listed software company and the director of finance of Incyte Europe, a NASDAQ-listed biotechnology company.

In her new role she will provide strategic financial and operational advice to the NVP Brightstar portfolio companies. She also has responsibility for investment accounting activities and limited partner reporting of the NVP IV fund. She is also involved in the venture discovery process, working closely with BT Exact in the commercialisation of new technologies and intellectual property.

She said: “I am delighted to have joined NVP Brightstar at such a critical and exciting point in its growth. The model that has been created remains unique and between NVP and NVP Brightstar 44 companies have already been created, both here and in the USA.

I am looking forward to the challenge of growing and nurturing new businesses.”
