New York State Common Retirement Fund has approved $250 million-worth of commitments across two private equity vehicles, according to materials from its December 2021 monthly transaction report.

The $279.7 billion public pension has committed $100 million to Insight Partners XII Buyout Annex Fund, as well as $150 million to Apollo Impact Mission Fund.

Insight Partners launched the Annex Fund in April 2021 with a $2 billion target size. Although the size of the fund is unconfirmed, Insight Partners held a final close for the vehicle in November 2021. It will make leveraged buyout investments alongside the firm’s $20 billion Fund XII, which closed in November last year.

Apollo Global Management launched its Impact Mission Fund in July 2021. The vehicle aims to place capital in North America across multiple sectors of private equity investment.

NYSCRF allocates 10 percent of its investment portfolio to private equity, comprising $27.97 billion in capital.

As illustrated below, the pension’s recent private equity commitments have focused on buyout and venture capital vehicles in the North America and Asia-Pacific regions.
