On the move, 1.9.2017 – Perella Weinberg gets new partner

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Ballentine Partners, the Waltham, Massachusetts, wealth manager, named Anja Saloranta chief operating officer. Saloranta previously worked at Redstar Ventures. Her background includes positions at North Atlantic Capital, Capital Resource Partners and MissionPoint Capital Partners.

Hidden Harbor Capital Partners hired Chris Paldino as a founding partner. He will also join the firm’s investment committee. Paldino previously was a managing director at H.I.G. Capital.

Perella Weinberg Partners named Cem Koray a partner. Koray had joined the firm in 2013 as a managing director. Earlier, Koray was executive director at JP Morgan.

PIMCO hired Jeffrey Thompson as executive vice president and portfolio manager. Thompson had been a managing director and co-head of the commercial real estate group at Annaly Capital Management.

1315 Capital LLC, the Philadelphia growth equity firm, named Edward Chan a principal. Chan most recently was a vice president at NaviMed Capital. And prior to that post, Chan was evaluated and sourced healthcare deals at Siemens Venture Capital.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Apex Fund Services tapped Daniel Strachman head of U.S. business development. Strachman’s background includes roles at Cantor Fitzgerald, Morgan Stanley and A&C Advisors.

Atlantic-Pacific Capital, the placement and advisory firm, named Kevin Imhoff and Jeff Hypes principals, in the Chicago and New York offices respectively. Imhoff previously was a director at Eaton Partners, responsible for sourcing and securing primary and secondary capital commitments from institutional investors. Hypes is a former vice president in Lazard’s private capital advisory group.

Cantor Fitzgerald LP: Anshu Jain, former co-chief executive of Deutsche Bank, joined Cantor Fitzgerald LP as president. Shawn Matthews remains president and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald & Co., the firm’s broker-dealer subsidiary.

Krauter & Co hired Ray Gallagher to lead the insurance agency’s Los Angeles office. Previously, Gallagher was senior vice president at Aon, with clients including some of the largest private equity sponsors.

MassRoots, the Denver tech platform for the cannabis industry, hired Robert Pullar as chief financial officer. Pullar was a managing director at Axis Private Equity Group.

RealBiz Media Group, a provider of home video tours for the real estate industry, hired Anshu Bhatnagar as CEO. The company’s current CEO, Alex Aliksanyan, will stay with RealBiz as president of real estate operations. Bhatnagar is a managing member of the PE firm Blue Capital Group.

RSD Advisors, the investment-advisory and financial-planning firm, named Andre Boreas a managing director and senior adviser. Boreas had been chief investment officer at the New York family office SF Capital.

ViSalus: Nick Sarnicola, a co-founder of ViSalus, the Los Angeles multilevel marketing company, was named CEO. He succeeds Ryan Blair, who is leaving to devote more time to his venture capital firm, HashTagOne. Blair will remain on ViSalus’s board and advise Sarnicola during the transition.

PROMOTIONS

First Reserve promoted Matthew Raben and Tim Vincent to managing directors. The energy-focused PE firm also upped Tomas Peshkatari to director.

HarbourVest Partners promoted Ryan Gunther, Senia Rapisarda and Kelvin Yap to managing director. The firm also promoted Shumin Gong, Ryan Jones and McComma Grayson III to principal.

Norwest Equity Partners promoted Taylor Moore and Jason Sondell to principal. Emma Gergen was named a director, while Brandon Ressler was promoted to assistant controller.

Pantheon promoted Chief Financial Officer Robin Bailey to partner. The firm also made six promotions within the global investment team, including Charlotte Morris and Sara Lonergan to principal. And eight promotions were made on the operations, client services, global marketing and legal and compliance teams.
