PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Adams Street Partners appointed Alex Kessel a principal on the co-investments team. Kessel is a former principal at Baird Capital.

Breakwater Management, a Los Angeles private investment firm focused on the lower-middle market, named Darrick Geant managing director and Joe Kaczorowski managing director and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Breakwater, Geant was a managing director at Goldman Sachs while Kaczorowski is former president of Grosvenor Park Media.

Calera Capital appointed Edward H. Orzetti an operating partner. Orzetti is former CEO of Keystone Automotive Operations and an ex-CEO of Transtar.

Carlyle Group’s AlpInvest Partners hired Jeff Gruccio as a principal on its primary investments team. Gruccio previously was an investment vice president at Prudential Financial.

Cascadia Capital hired Firdaus Pohowalla as a managing director and head of its middle-market industry coverage. Pohowalla was previously a managing director at Barclays, where he co-led the restructuring and finance group.

Clayton, Dubilier & Rice appointed Ross McInnes an operating adviser for CD&R funds. McInnes is chairman of Safran and former vice chairman of Macquarie Capital (Europe).

Crayhill Capital Management named Shamafa Khan a managing director and head of investor relations and marketing. She previously was a director in the global business development group at Barings LLC.

Crestone Capital, the Boulder, Colorado, wealth-management and investment-advisory firm, named Jack Swift president. A partner at Crestone, Swift was previously the firm’s chief client officer.

CVC Capital PartnersAnish Mehta will be appointed CEO of the international women’s health assets portfolio, which the firm agreed to buy from Teva Pharmaceutical Industries in September. Mehta will join from Allergan Plc, where he headed international business development.

CVC Credit Partners named Cary Ho global head of CLO origination and managing director. Ho previously was a managing director and head of credit structuring at Nomura Securities International.

General AtlanticMichelle Dipp joined as a managing director in the New York office. Dipp will be a senior member of the global healthcare team. She is co-founder and former general partner of Longwood FundAndy Slavitt joined General Atlantic as a special adviser. Slavitt is former acting administrator for Medicare & Medicaid Services and ex-group executive vice president at Optum.

HarbourVest Partners hired Simon Jennings as a managing director. Jennings previously was global head of private equity at HSBC.

KKR appointed Iñaki Cobo Bachiller to lead the healthcare franchise for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, effective Jan. 1. Bachiller will also lead KKR’s PE business in Spain. Bachiller is joining KKR from CVC Capital Partners, where he was a senior managing director.

Revelstoke Capital PartnersEric A. Shuey joined as a managing director. Shuey will be responsible for new investment sourcing, transaction execution and post-investment monitoring and oversight. Shuey previously was a senior executive at Fresenius Medical Care.

San Francisco Equity Partners hired Chris Sargent as a vice president, based in San Francisco. Sargent previously worked at Sawaya Segalas.

Starwood Capital, the broker-dealer affiliate of Starwood Capital Group, named Trisha A. Miller CEO. Miller is former executive director of W.P. Carey and ex-CEO of Carey Financial LLC, W.P. Carey’s broker-dealer subsidiary.

TPG: Bryan Taylor, a top tech dealmaker at the buyout shop, is exiting, Bloomberg is reporting. Taylor, who led investments in software, data analytics and technology services, is leaving TPG before the firm starts its next PE fund in 2018, the story said. Taylor, a partner, joined TPG in March 2004. TPG Capital said Ford Motor Chief Executive Mark Fields joined as a senior adviser.

Triloma Energy Advisors named Hill Huckman director of fund administration. His duties include being in charge of the administrative, tax and operational activities for Triloma EIG Energy Income Funds. Huckman’s background includes serving as tax officer of the Transamerica family of funds.

TZP Group hired Dan Gaspar as a partner. Gaspar previously was a partner at High Road Capital Partners.

Virtua Partners added Ernest Amponsah as a project manager to its Quyp Development team in Arizona. The firm also expanded its Hong Kong office by hiring Sunny Huang and Janet Jiang as an associate and financial analyst, respectively.

White Oak Global Advisors named Darius Mozaffarian and David Hackett as co-presidents. Mozaffarian and Hackett have served as acting co-presidents since the start of the year.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Boston-based Brand Networks, a provider of social media advertising software and services, has appointed Dave Fall as CEO. Previously, Fall was the chief operating officer at Tapad. Brand Networks is backed by AEA Investors.

Care Advantage, a portfolio company of BelHealth Investment Partners, appointed Eric Rackow and Arthur Laffer to its board. Rackow, a physician, was president and CEO of Humana at Home while Laffer is founder and chairman of Laffer Associates. Care Advantage is the Virginia-based home health services provider. Integrated Care Physicians, also a BelHealth Investment Partners portfolio company, named Stephen Bartow chief operations officer, Matt Jackson chief financial officer and Adam Greer vice president of operations management. ICP provides emergency department management services.

Oasis Outsourcing, the Florida-based professional employer organization, promoted Ruth Trezevant Cyrus to executive vice president. Cyrus has been with the firm for more than 12 years. Oasis Outsourcing is backed by Stone Point Capital and Kelso.

J.D. PowerFinbarr O’Neill, president and CEO of the Costa Mesa, California, provider of consumer data and analytics, will retire in March. The board will begin a search for a successor. O’Neill will remain with J.D. Power during the transition and be a senior adviser after a new CEO is chosen. J.D. Power is a portfolio company of London private equity firm XIO Group.

Silverback, the San Antonio oil and gas exploration company, hired Matthew Alley as chief financial officer. Alley previously was CFO and president of finance at Palomar Natural Resources. Silverback is backed by EnCap Investments LP.

Staples Solutions: Dolph Westerbos was named CEO. Westerbos was previously CEO of Westcon Group. In February, Cerberus Capital Management completed its buy of Staples’ European operations.

Think project!Ralf Grüßhaber was named managing director and chief financial officer. Grüßhaber was most recently a managing director of B2X Care Solutions. Think project! is a portfolio company of TA Associates.

Total Safety, a portfolio company of Littlejohn & Co, has named George P. Ristevski as CEO. His background includes roles at Praxair and Maxum Petroleum. Total Safety provides integrated safety and compliance services and the products necessary to support them.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Alantra, an investment bank and asset manager, named Jeremy Novak a managing director. Novak previously was a senior member of the TMT group at Houlihan Lokey.

American International Group named Thomas Leonardi executive vice president of government affairs, public policy and communications. Leonardi previously was senior adviser to the investment advisory business, with a focus on the insurance industry, at Evercore.

Cerberus Capital Management: The Cerberus Operations and Advisory affiliate hired Afsheen Afshar as a senior managing director and chief artificial intelligence officer. Afshar previously was chief data science officer and managing director at J.P. Morgan.

Chapman Associates, the Schaumburg, Illinois, M&A adviser, named Theodore W. Bernstein managing director of M&A. Bernstein previously was a managing partner at N-Squared Growth Capital.

Evercore ISI hired Anthony DiClemente as a senior managing director. He previously was a managing director and senior research analyst at Instinet.

Financial Technology Partners, a fintech-focused investment bank, named Vijay Sondhi a managing director. Sondhi is a former Visa senior executive.

Gladstone Place Partners launched, led by Chairman and CEO Steven Lipin. Lipin was previously with Brunswick Group. Gladstone is the New York strategic and financial communications firm.

Goodwin added Douglas Freeman and Victor Chen as partners within the law firm’s international private equity practice in Hong Kong. Freeman and Chen have worked together for many years.

Institutional Limited Partners Association is looking for a CEO and hired Arlington Partners International to lead a global search. Earlier this year, ILPA named Mike Mazzola interim CEO to succeed Peter Freire, who left the organization.

John Wiley & Sons named Brian A. Napack president and CEO of the publisher. Napack will succeed Matthew Kissner, who has been interim CEO since May 2017 and will remain chairman. Napack will join Wiley from Providence Equity Partners, where he has been a senior adviser focused on investments in education and media.

KAP Group hired Jessica Hacker as a project manager at the private equity adviser . Hacker previously worked at Warburg Pincus.

Lincoln International named Alex Masters to the London office as a managing director in its global consumer group. Masters previously worked at Ernst & Young, Rothschild, Lehman Brothers and PwC.

NMS Capital Advisors, an investment banking firm, named Robert A. Maley president and head of investment banking. Maley is former president and CEO of Gilford Securities and its investment adviser, Gilford Financial Corp.

PrescientSunil Ghatnekar was named CFO. Ghatnekar is a longtime executive with Coca-Cola.

Waltz Inc, a provider of fast, smartphone-based ways to access secure spaces and pay transit fares, named Konrad R. Kruger and Jay Walder to the board. Kruger is a co-founder of Five Mile Capital Partners and Walder is CEO of Motivate.

Wells Fargo Asset Management named Dan Morris global head of portfolio solutions within the multiasset solutions team. Morris previously was head of U.S. portfolio solutions at SchrodersMartijn De Vree and Frank Cooke are joining the team from Insight Investment and Mercer, respectively.

Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney promoted Kent W. Robinson to partner of operations and Wilson Ren to senior associate. HKW hired John D. Lammers and Brendan P. McLoughlin as associates.
