PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Aequitas Capital Partners has expanded its team by hiring four new regional directors. Joining the firm are Todd Nelson as southeast regional director; James Kenney as northwest regional director; Whit Whitehouse as southwest regional director; and Bill Hennessey as northeast regional director.

American Energy – Midstream LLC has named David C. Shiels as CEO. Previously, Shiels worked at Access Midstream Partners LP and Chesapeake Midstream Partners. AE-MidCo was formed by American Energy Partners to buy midstream assets.

Bridge Growth Partners LLC has appointed Peter Griffiths to its technology advisory board. Griffiths is the former executive vice president of products at CA Technologies.

Catalyst Investors has hired Kapil Desai from Credit Suisse’s Global Technology Group as analyst and Issac Schlecht from Samson Capital Advisors as business analyst.

Austin, Texas-based lower middle market private equity firm CenterGate Capital has recruited Tim Liu as a principal for its investment team. Previously, Liu worked at Platinum Equity where he served as a vice president.

Private equity and investment advisory firm CVC Capital Partners Ltd appointed Ivo Lurvink as partner in its Amsterdam office, effective April 1.

Yair Reiner has joined GE Antares Capital as an aerospace and government services analyst at its New York office. Previously, Reiner worked at Oppenheimer & Co. where he served as a senior analyst for aerospace and defense.

Mill City Capital has hired Angela Wood as vice president of finance. Wood joins from Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, where she worked as a senior tax manager, involved with tax structuring, tax consulting and compliance for private equity funds, venture capital, fund of funds and other alternative investment groups.

SAIL Capital Partners Limited has named Dr. Eric Warner as a managing director for its newly launched London office. Previously, Warner worked at Altius Associates where he served as co-CEO and head of investor relations.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Cardinal Logistics Management Corp, which is backed by Centerbridge Partners, has named Tom White as executive chairman. Previously, White worked in senior management at a number of companies that include CEVA Logistics and Hub Group Inc. Cardinal Logistics provides transportation and third-party logistics services.

Compliance Science, which is backed by Edison Partners, has named Jeff Lubitz as chief revenue officer. Previously, Lubitz worked at GMI Ratings where he served as executive vice president of sales. Based in New York City, Compliance Science is a provider of governance, risk management and compliance solutions for the financial services sector.

EyeCare Services Partners Holdings LLC, a portfolio company of Varsity Healthcare Partners, has hired David L. Thomas as president and chief operating officer. The company has also named Christopher R. Fusco as vice president of business development and promoted Richard C. Edlow to executive chairman. Prior to joining ESP, Thomas worked at Alva Labs where he was a managing partner and board director and Fusco was at Dermatology Solutions Group where he led business development. Previously, Edlow was president of ESP. Based in Baltimore, ESP is an ophthalmologic and optometric services practice.

Gerber Scientific Inc, which is owned by Vector Capital, has hired John Capasso as chief financial officer. Previously, Capasso worked at Varel International Energy Services where he served as CFO. Based in Tolland, Connecticut, Gerber is a integrated solutions provider for the apparel and industrial sectors.

Giact Systems LLC, a portfolio company of Tritium Partners, has appointed Benjamin Guion as chief financial officer and Holly Merrill as chief communications and advocacy officer. Guion is the former COO and CFO of New Dominion Bank while Merrill is the former CEO of PaymentsPLUS. Based in Texas, Giact is a provider of risk management solutions for electronic payments.

The Krystal Company, which is owned by Argonne Capital Group, has named Carl Jakaitis as chief financial officer. The appointment is effective immediately. Previously, Jakaitis worked at McAlister’s Deli where he served as CFO. The Krystal Company is a quick service restaurant chain.

LogicSource, a portfolio company of Bain Capital Ventures, has appointed Michael Krupka to its board of directors. Krupka is a founding partner and managing director of Bain Capital Ventures. Based in Norwalk, Connecticut, LogicSource is a sourcing solutions firm.

Online education firm Lynda.com has hired Erik Nierenberg as general manager of its enterprise business unit. Previously, Nierenberg worked at Salesforce.com. Lynda.com is backed by TPG, Accel Partners, Spectrum Equity and Meritech.

Nonni’s Foods LLC, a portfolio company of Wind Point Partners, has hired Brian Hansberry as CEO. The appointment is effective immediately. Hansberry replaces Dave Beré, who is retiring as CEO, and will now serve as chairman of Nonni’s board of directors. Previously, Hansberry worked at Wm. J. Wrigley Jr. Co. where he served as chief marketing officer of North America and vice president of U.S. gum, confections. Headquartered in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, Nonni’s is a producer of cookies and baked goods.

Opus Global, a GTCR portfolio company, has hired Bruce Grant as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Previously, Grant worked at Calypso Technology where he served as head of strategic and business intelligence and director of strategic marketing. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, Opus Global is a risk and compliance platform firm.

Vendavo, which is owned by Francisco Partners, has appointed Patrick D. Quirk as president and CEO. Vendavo’s interim CEO David Mitchell, who is also an operating partner at Francisco Partners, will remain on the firm’s board of directors. Previously, Quirk worked at Achievers where he served as president and CEO. Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Vendavo provides margin and profit optimization solutions.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Accordion Partners has hired Jonathan Apter as director and named Bolaji Lawl as vice president. Apter will focus on leading private equity consulting engagements. He joined Accordion from Evercore Capital Partners, where he worked as a director originating and executing investment opportunities. Bolaji, who was been working at Accordion since August 2014, has now fully joined the team. Previously, Lawl worked at Moelis & Co. as a vice president.

Andersen Tax has added Bob McDonald to its Chicago office as a managing director in its alternative investment funds practice. Previously, McDonald worked at KPMG where he was a partner in the federal income tax group. He was also a managing director at True Partners.

Citi Private Bank has named Steve Prostor head of the newly created role of sponsor finance, North America. He has been working as head of syndications at the bank. Prostor in the new role will manage origination, structuring, underwriting, syndication and portfolio management activities of Citi Private Bank’s lending business in North America.

Biopharmaceutical company, Cleveland BioLabs Inc has appointed Elena Kasimova to its board of directors. Kasimova is a director of strategy and investment at BioProcess Capital Partners.

Evercore has hired Jay Chandler as a senior managing director in its Equity Capital Markets Group. Chandler most recently worked as head of capital markets for Liquidnet, an equity block trading network. Chandler spent 26 years with Merrill Lynch and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Fifth Street Finance Corp. has promoted Todd G. Owens from president to CEO. Owens, a former partner at Goldman Sachs, is replacing Leonard M. Tannenbaum who resigned as CEO but will remain in charge of the firm’s investment advisor Fifth Street Asset Management. Also, the company has named Ivelin M. Dimitrov, its current chief investment officer, as president.

Invacare Corp. has hired Matthew E. Monaghan as president and CEO. The appointment becomes effective April 1, 2015. Currently, Monaghan is the senior vice president and general manager of Zimmer’s Global Hips business. Before joining Zimmer, Monaghan was an operating executive at TPG and Cerberus Capital. Headquartered in Elyria, Ohio, Invacare is a maker of home and long-term care medical products that promote recovery and active lifestyles.

Park Madison Partners has hired Amy Thiessen as a principal. Previously, Thiessen worked at Forbes Private Capital Group where she served as a managing director. Based in New York, Park Madison Partners is a real estate placement and advisory firm that focuses on real estate private equity.

Sobrato Capital has hired Albert Chiang as managing director, private equity. Chiang will assist with the management of the group’s private equity fund and direct investment program. Chiang joined Sobrato from Bay Hills Capital, where he was a partner and member of the firm’s investment committee. He also worked as a principal with FTV Capital and vice president at Catterton Partners.

Square 1 Bank has hired Randy Churchill as senior vice president to lead the company’s tech banking efforts in Los Angeles and Orange County. Previously, Churchill worked at Cooley LLP where he was a founding member and a senior vice president of business development at the company’s LA office.

New York City-based Youth I.N.C., which helps youth-focused nonprofits grow their organizations, has named Rehana Farrell as executive director. Previously, Farrell served as chief operating officer at Cain Hoy Enterprises. Also, Youth I.N.C. has tapped John Waldron, who co-heads Goldman Sachs investment banking division, as co-chair of its board.

LIMITED PARTNERS

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board has promoted Mark Jenkins to senior managing director and global head of private investments. Previously, Jenkins was managing director, head of principal investments. Also, CPPIB has named Pierre Lavallée as senior managing director and global head of investment partnerships. Lavallée will remain in his current position as senior managing director and chief talent officer until a replacement is found. These two appointments are effective immediately. And, André Bourbonnais, who most recently served as senior managing director and global head of private investments, will be leaving CPPIP to become CEO at the Montreal-based Public Sector Pension Investment Board, effective March 30, 2015.

PROMOTIONS

Aequitas Capital Partners has promoted Tammy Wood to vice president of sales.

Atlantic Street Capital has promoted Brian Cooper to partner. Prior to joining the firm, Cooper worked at GB Merchant Partners.

Capri Capital Partners LLC has made a number of promotions within its executive management staff. Among those getting a position upgrade are Gwendolyn Butler, who is now vice chairwoman of global investor relations; L. Heather Mitchell, who is now president, chief operating officer and partner; Dori C. Nolan, who has become partner of investments; and, Mark K. Duggal, who is now chief financial officer and corporate treasurer. The firm has also promoted Janelle R. Furlin to senior vice president of portfolio accounting; Jason G. Lewis, to senior vice president of portfolio management; and Suzanne J. Hoyes to assistant vice president of compliance.

Catalyst Investors has made some promotions and new hires. The firm has promoted Eric Steele to vice president, and Mia Hegazy and Rob Schnitzler to associate.

Cyprium Partners has promoted three people who have been with the firm since it was called Key Principal Partners. Daniel Kessler and Beth Haas Laschinger were promoted to partner and Patrick Rond was made principal. Kessler joined in 2001; Laschinger joined in 2000 and Rond joined in 2002. Cyprium recently closed Cyprium Investors IV on $460 million.

FFL has promoted Chris Harris, Greg Lau and Greg Long to managing director. Prior to joining FFL, Harris worked at Berkshire Partners where he was an associate; Lau worked at Procter & Gamble; and Long served as a senior associate at The Parthenon Group.

Intervale Capital has promoted Jason Turowsky to principal, Phil Wilson to vice president and Kendal Reed to senior associate. The three are involved in deal sourcing, execution and portfolio company oversight. Turowsky joined Intervale in 2013 as a vice president from Falconhead Capital. Wilson joined in 2011 from Credit Suisse’s Global Industrials and Financial Institutions Group. Reed joined in 2012 from Piper Jaffray’s Clean Technology & Industrials Group.

JMI Equity has promoted Matt Emery, David Greenberg and Bob Nye to general partner. The appointments become effective immediately. Prior to joining JMI, Emery worked at Thomas Weisel Partners where he served as an analyst while Greenberg was an associate at Cascadia Capital and an analyst at Houlihan Lokey. And, before he came to JMI, Nye worked at Bates White where he was a consultant.

Summit Partners has promoted Peter Rottier to managing director. Also, the firm has upped Peter Francis and Colin Mistele to vice president. Prior to joining Summit, Rottier worked at KSL Capital Partners, Stone Arch Capital and RBC Capital Markets. And before they both came to Summit, Francis worked at Jefferies & Company and UBS Investment Bank while Mistele worked at Union Square Advisors, Accenture and Electronic Arts.

Vestar Capital Partners has promoted John B. Stephens to managing director. Previously a principal at the firm, Stephens joined Vestar in 2006.
