PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Toronto-based Caledon Capital Management has recruited Stephen Dowd as a partner. Previously, Dowd worked at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan where he served as senior vice president.

CVC Capital has hired Tomas Ekman as a partner in its Stockholm office. Previously, Ekman worked at 3i where he served as a partner and managing director in the Nordic region.

Forbes Private Capital Group has hired former Blackstone Group and Fortress Investment Group fundraiser Laura Hill as a director in the New York office. Hill will cover institutional and family office investors in the Western U.S. and select clients in other North American geographies. Most recently, Hill worked as a director of corporate affairs at the Council of Foreign Relations. Previously, she was a director at Fortress in the capital formation group, and prior to that she worked at Blackstone as a director in the private equity fundraising group.

Private equity firm H.I.G. Capital appointed Gabriele Magotti director in the company’s Milan office. Magotti joins H.I.G. Capital from Deutsche Bank AG, where he was head of southern Europe for the alternative and real assets team.

Investment firm Strategic Value Partners has named José Barreiro to its advisory council. Previously, Barreiro worked at BBVA where he held various executive positions including global head of corporate and investment banking.

Lower middle market private equity firm Summit Park has expanded its staff with three additions. Houston Stokes and Kyle Taura are joining the company as associates while Ian Morris has been hired as a business development associate.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

B2R Finance, which is backed by by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities, has hired Jason Hoggs as CEO. Hoggs is a former president of American Express Serve Enterprise. B2R is a provider of residential buy-to-rent mortgages for single-family rental property investors.

ForgeRock, a provider of identity relationship management solutions, has hired Robert Humphrey as chief marketing officer. Previously, Humphrey worked at CA Technologies where he served as senior vice president of global field and channel marketing. ForgeRock is backed by Meritech Capital Partners, Accel Partners and Foundation Capital.

Toronto-based Q9 Networks, a provider of outsourced data center infrastructure, has hired Karen Sheriff as president and CEO. The appointment becomes effective January 5, 2015. Sheriff is the former president and CEO of Bell Aliant. Q9 Networks is owned by an investor group that includes Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, Providence Equity Partners and Madison Dearborn Partners.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

AGC Integrated Defense Group has hired Peter J. Hennessey as executive vice president. Hennessey is a retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General. AGC Integrated Defense is a subsidiary of AGC Aerospace & Defense, a provider of technologies, systems and services supporting commercial and military programs. AGC Aerospace & Defense is backed by Acorn Growth Companies.

Bank of the West has hired Diane Marshall as a vice president, national banking officer in the Commercial Banking Group. Marshall will be responsible for new business development, due diligence, underwriting, negotiating and structuring middle market transactions in the Chicago market. Marshall most recently was a vice president for Fifth Third Bank in the Structured Financing Group that focuses on middle market private equity companies.

BKM Capital Partners has added John J. Mack, Paul Dolinoy and Jeff Gehl to its board of advisers. Mack is the former CEO and chairman of Morgan Stanley while Dolinoy is the former president of Equitable Real Estate Investment Management. And, Gehl is a managing principal and co-founder of RCP Advisors.

Evercore has hired Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Thomas B. Leonardi as senior advisor. Leonardi is the former chairman and CEO of Northington Partners.

Fiserv, a Brookfield, Wisc.-based provider of financial services technology solutions, has added Alison Davis to its board of directors. Davis is a managing partner of Fifth Era, which invests in early-stage technology-enabled companies. She is also a former managing partner at Belvedere Capital Partners.

Global law firm Kirkland & Ellis has hired private equity/M&A lawyer Ryan Harris as a partner in its corporate practice group. He is based in the firm’s Chicago office. Prior to joining Kirkland, Harris worked at Will & Emery where served as a partner.

KKR Capstone, an operational consulting group that works with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co, has hired Matthew Claughton as a director in Sydney. Claughton was recently a group general manager of Pacific Brands’ workwear business unit and previously managed the group’s business development, human resources and international business across Asia Pacific.

MG Stover & Co., a boutique accounting and administration firm, has hired former KRG Capital Partners executive Carrie Heintz as director of private equity and venture capital. Heintz worked at KRG for 14 years work on the fund administration function for four funds totaling $3.3 billion, as well as managing relations for more than 300 limited partners. She also prepared quarterly and annual financial statements and assisted in compliance functions. Prior to KRG, Heintz worked at Arthur Andersen.

San Francisco-based investment bank Qatalyst Group has recruited Anand Subramanian as a partner and head of private capital markets. The appointment becomes effective early December. Previously, Subramanian worked at Morgan Stanley where he served as a managing director and head of private capital markets.

Specialty consumer finance firm Regional Management Corp. has named Michael R. Dunn as permanent CEO. The appointment is effective immediately. Dunn is a former partner at private equity firm Brysam Global Partners.

Stonybrook Capital has hired Andrew Ward as vice president for business development and operations. Previously, Ward worked at Aldwych Capital Partners where he served as director for business development.

Online broker TD Ameritrade has added Larry Bettino and Todd Ricketts to its board of directors. Bettino is a managing member of StarVest Partners and Ricketts is a director of Chicago Baseball Holding, the holding company for the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball franchise. Bettino’s appointment is effective immediately while Ricketts will begin on January 1, 2015.
