On The Move: Blackstone names ex-Goldman Sachs’ Chan as managing director

Blackstone Group named Raymond Chan as a managing director on the portfolio management and investment research team. In his new role Chan will be a portfolio manager for Blackstone Alternative Asset Management’s registered funds platform. Chan previously worked at Goldman Sachs.

H.I.G. Capital named Stefano Giambelli and Tobias Borkowski as principal and director to its European middle-market team in London. Giambelli was co-founder of Amlon Capital while Borkowski co-led the private equity investment operations of a family office in London.

Black Diamond Capital Management appointed Ethan Auerbach as a senior managing director and portfolio manager for non-control distressed investments. He previously worked at Greenlight Capital Management.

Black Dragon Capital named Charlie Vogt as an adviser. Vogt is the president and CEO of ATX Networks.

Next Coast Ventures named Sarah Puil as an entrepreneur-in-residence. Puil was senior vice president at Civic Entertainment.

Mainsail Partners hired Katherine Claire Kanoff and Jason Thorn as vice presidents. The firm also named Parker Draughon, Max Thompson and Cally Tullo as associates.

Harvest Partners LP named Dan Glickman as partner. Previously he worked at Antares Capital, where he was a founding partner and senior managing director.

Leeds Equity Partners LLC added Elizabeth Chou to its team to support the firm’s innovation and growth initiatives. She was previously a general partner at New Markets Venture Partners.

LiveOak Venture Partners named David Stewart as a venture partner. He previously worked at Trinity Ventures.

Pappas Ventures named Alex Arfaei as a partner. Previously, he was a managing director at BMO Capital Markets.

Riata Capital Group promoted Nick DePinto to senior associate. Before joining the firm in 2017, DePinto was an associate at JP Morgan.

Whitehorse Liquidity Partners named Josh Booth as a principal. Booth previously worked at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe named Paul Taheri as an operating partner on the healthcare team. Taheri is CEO of Yale Medicine and deputy dean for clinical affairs at the Yale School of Medicine.

Sean Ozbolt joined Riverside Co as managing partner. Ozbold was a partner at Aurora Capital Group and was a former managing director at H.I.G. Capital.

Amira Oueld-El Hachemi joined the finance department as an analyst. Hachemi previously worked at Essling Capital and Weinberg Capital Partners.

Alpha Edison added Angela Sun as chief operating officer and partner. She previously worked for Bloomberg LP.

Black Dragon Capital named Andreas Bereczky as an adviser. He was previously the executive vice president of production and engineering at ZDF.

Yelena Shkolnik was promoted to principal at Jump Capital, where she joined in 2015 after working at MK Capital and Dreamworks.

Blackstone named Vik Sawhney as chief administrative officer and global head of investor relations and business development.

The Dementia Discovery Fund, a venture fund investing in projects and companies that develop treatments for age-related dementias, named Christian Jung as a partner. He previously worked at Wellington Partners Life Sciences. SV Health Investors manages DDF.

Brendan Baker joined Ridge Ventures as partner. Baker was previously with Wing Venture Capital and Hone Capital. Ridge Ventures was formerly known as IDG Ventures.

Christophe Bourque will become a general partner at White Star Capital’s new Toronto office. Bourque joined the firm’s Montreal office two years ago.

Huron Capital named Tony Pulice as a partner for its Flex Equity team. He was a principal at Rockbridge Growth Equity Management LP and a vice president of private equity at Goldman Sachs.

Waud Capital Partners named Matthew Albers as vice president of capital markets. He previously worked at Antares Capital.

St. Cloud Capital named Sibyl Kavak to its investment team. She previously worked at City National Bank.

Verve Therapeutics, a next-generation cardiovascular company, named Dr. Andrew Geall to its scientific advisory board. Verve’s backers include GV, ARCH Venture Partners, F-Prime Capital and Biomatics Capital.

Vector Capital-backed ChyronHego appointed Ariel Garcia as CEO. ChyronHego is a provider of visual storytelling solutions for content creators in the broadcast and sports industries.

Trystar named Andrew Smith as CEO. The Goldner Hawn-backed company is a provider of temporary electrical power distribution products for the power rental, industrial, commercial utility and emergency back-up markets.

MedEye named Jort Kooistra as CEO. The Dutch medtech company with an AI-powered medication verification system is backed by LSP, Seventure Partners, NSA Ventures and Brabant Development Agency.

Campbell Lutyens named Gordon Bajnai as a partner and head of global infrastructure. He will continue as chairman of the firm’s global advisory board.

Art Van Furniture LLC, backed by Thomas H. Lee Partners LP, named Gary Fazio as CEO. Fazio is former CEO of Simmons Bedding Company and Mattress Firm.

Raj Arora was named CEO of Jensen Hughes, a provider of safety, security and risk-based engineering and consulting services. The company is backed by Gryphon Investors.

HealthcareSource, a provider of talent management solutions for the healthcare industry, named Michael Grossi as CEO. HealthcareSource is backed by Francisco Partners.

ChurnZero named Abby Hammer as chief customer officer, Hunter Montgomery as chief marketing officer and Jason Moore as vice president of sales. The customer success platform is backed by Baird Capital, Grotech Ventures and Middleland Capital.

Keith Dougherty joined Roland Foods LLC as chief executive officer. Roland is a portfolio company of Vestar Capital Partners.

Grabango, a checkout-free technology service provider, named Ryan Smith as vice president of product and engineering at Sight Machine. Grabango’s backers include Propel Venture Partners, Ridge Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Commerce Ventures and Founders Fund.

Sidley Austin LLP named Mateja Maher as a partner in the firm’s investment funds practice. Previously Maher worked at Campbell Lutyens.

Discover Financial Services named John T. Greene as executive vice president, chief financial officer and a member of the company’s executive committee. He previously served as CFO at Bioverativ.

ORIX Corp USA named Yoshiteru (Terry) Suzuki president and CEO. Suzuki succeeds Hideto Nishitani, who returns to the Tokyo headquarters to assume a new role as Assistant to the CEO of ORIX.

Kevin Jach rejoined Lazard Middle Market’s consumer, food and retail group.

B. Riley Financial Inc appointed Dan Shribman as chief investment officer.

Peakstone appointed Michael Taylor as a managing director focused on the consumer and retail sectors. Taylor previously worked at KeyBanc Capital Markets’ consumer and retail group.

Americana Partners named Michael Mithoff as a managing director and head of private equity. Mithoff was previously a managing director at HighTower Texas.

Digital Bridge named Geneviève Maltais-Boisvert as a principal to its investment team. Her role will focus on sourcing and managing investments for the Digital Colony Partners, LP fund. She previously was director of infrastructure investments at PSP Investments.

EnTrust Global named Matt Meissner as a vice president focused on investment research. He was previously the founder of Blue Moon Analytics.

Proskauer named Warren Allan as a partner for its global private funds practice.

Bass, Berry & Sims named Angela Humphreys and Ryan Thomas as co-chairs of the healthcare private equity team. Thomas will also serve as chair of the firm’s general industry private equity team.

Partners Capital Investment Group LLP named Marc Schwartz as a strategic adviser for its West Coast office. Shwartz previously worked for the Broad family office and The Broad Foundations.
