On The Move: Carlyle hires ex-Goldman Sachs exec Bruce Larson, Wang joins Blackstone

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

LFM Capital appointed Conner Harris as a director. Harris previously worked at The Riverside Company’s Dallas office where he was vice president for the firm’s flagship capital appreciation fund.

Paine Schwartz Partners named Renata Dinkelmann as director of human capital. Dinklemann is the former head of global executive recruiting at Kraft Heinz.

DW Healthcare Partners promoted Gabe Becher as a managing director, Eric Moore as a principal and Aaron Kennedy as vice president.

Arsenal Capital Partners hired Michael Bernstein to its healthcare team. Bernstein joins from Baird Capital Partners where he led the firm’s investments in healthcare since 2014.

Carlyle Group hired Bruce Larson as head of human resources, leading a global team. Larson formerly worked at Goldman Sachs as a partner and head of human capital in Asia Pacific and India.

Highway Capital promoted to P.J. Gilbert to principal and Kapish Haldia to senior associate. The firm also hired Kelly Cash as an associate.

Gauge Capital named David Friedman as a principal. Friedman was previously at Silver Oak Services Partners.

ICONIQ Capital named Doug Pepper as a general partner on the firm’s growth equity team. Pepper was previously a managing director at Shasta Ventures.

Two Sigma Ventures tapped Villi Iltchev as a partner. Iltchev was most recently a partner with August Capital.

Rick Taketa joined Genstar Capital as a member of the firm’s strategic advisory board. Taketa is president of Taketa Capital, a small family office.

Fireman Capital Partners promoted Devon Howard to vice president. Prior to joining Howard worked at JP Morgan.

H.I.G. Capital promoted Matt Hankins to managing director of the H.I.G. Advantage Fund.

Limin Wang joined Blackstone as a managing director on the quantitative research team in Blackstone Alternative Asset Management.

GI Partners named John Sheputis as a managing director. Sheputis is the former president of Infomat Data Centers and co-founder and CEO of Fortune Data Centers.

Carlyle appointed Gretchen McClain as an operating executive consultant for the industrial and transportation team. McClain is a former CEO of Xylem Inc.

Flare Capital Partners named Ian Chiang as principal. He was previously senior vice president and a founding member of CareAllies.

Starwood Retail Partners, a subsidiary of Starwood Capital Group, has named Vincent Corno as chief operating officer. Corno previously worked at Brixmor Property Group.

Menlo Ventures hired Jean-Paul Sanday as a partner. Previously he worked at Summit Partners as an inflection-stage investor.

Lovell Minnick Partners promoted Scott Shebelsky to CFO.

AlbionVC named Paul Lehair as an investment manager. Previously he worked at Citymapper where he was financial director.

OpenGate Capital named Damian Blazy as a principal in the North American operations team.

Oak HC/FT made several promotions: Nancy Brown was named general partner; Dan Petrozzo, Matt Streisfeld and Michelle Daubar were each named partner; Ravi Singh was tapped as CFO.

L Catterton named Chinta Bhagat as co-managing partner and head of the firm’s Asia funds.

David Tan, who spent more than a decade at KKR and is one of the founding members of KKR’s Singapore office, left the buyout shop, according to Nikkei Asian Review. Tan joined TPG in Singapore as managing director.

Warburg Pincus appointed Frank Tait as an industry adviser in technology, media and telecommunications group. Previously he was senior vice president of corporate development at Frontline Education.

Pacific Avenue Capital Partners named Jason Leach as a managing director and member of its investment committee. Leach was previously a principal with Platinum Equity and Sun Capital Partners.

RailUSA LLC appointed Barbara Wilson as president and chief financial officer. The freight railroad and rail service holding company is backed by Equity Group Investments.

Park Energy Services LLC, a portfolio company of Rock Hill Capital, has appointed Tim Knox as president and CEO. Park Energy Services operates a fleet of lower horsepower compressor units focused on wellhead compression.

Varsity Brands, a sports equipment company, named Justin Kentor as chief of strategy and business transformation. Varsity Brands is a portfolio company of Bain Capital Private Equity.

Zep Inc named Dan Smytka as CEO. The provider of industrial cleaning solutions is a portfolio company of New Mountain Capital.

Michael Anderson was named vice president of marketing for Stateless, a network connectivity company backed by Drive Capital and Speedinvest.

InterVision, an IT strategic service provider, named Ray Panahon as head of technology for media and entertainment. InterVision is backed by Huron Capital.

Mobile banking company Varo Money Inc appointed August de los Reyes as chief design officer. Varo Money is backed by Warburg Pincus and TPG-backed The Rise Fund.

SugarCRM Inc named John Donaldson as chief financial officer. The company helps organizations with customer experiences and is backed by Accel-KKR.

Integrated Care Physicians Inc, a provider of emergency medicine and acute care management services, appointed Dr. Terry Meadows as executive chairman and board member. ICP is a portfolio company of BelHealth Investment Partners.

Vena Solutions named Hunter Madeley CEO. Vena is backed by JMI and Centana Growth Partners.

Contenserv, a Swiss product experience platform, has named Steve Murphy as chief revenue officer. Contentserv is backed by Investcorp.

Neil Constable joined CircleUp as its first chief investment officer. He comes from Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co LLC. CircleUp is backed by Union Square Ventures, GV, Canaan Partners and QED Advisors.

Global Franchise Group, a brand acquisition and management firm, promoted Jenn Johnston to chief brand officer and president of operations. Jim Parrish was hired as chief operating officer. GFG is backed by Lion Capital LLP and Serruya Private Equity Inc.

Vor Biopharma, an oncology company, named Dr. Robert Ang as president and CEO. Vor Biopharma’s backers include 5AM Ventures, RA Capital Management and Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC Inc.

PHOENIX Rehabilitation and Health Services Inc, a community of out-patient physical rehabilitation centers, named Anthony Brown as vice president of information technology. PHOENIX is backed by Audax Private Equity.

Promises Behavioral Health named John P. Hart as chief financial officer. The provider of behavioral health, substance abuse treatment and related services is backed by BlueMountain Capital Management LLC.

TriVista hired Katherine Kost as managing director and head of its new IT and operations technology practice. Kost was previously chief information officer at Meggitt PLC.

Gramercy Funds Management named Jeffrey D. Sharon as global head of business development. Sharon previously worked at OFI Global Asset Management, an OppenheimerFunds Company.

LCR Capital Partners named Sherman Baldwin as CEO. Previously Baldwin was a managing director at Accenture.

Hirtle Callaghan named Stephen Vaccaro as director private equity. Vaccaro previously worked at University of Pennsylvania’s office of investments.

Goodwin added Lauren King as a partner to its private investment funds practice. King will be based in the firm’s New York office.

Intermediate Capital Group named Alex Jones as head of U.S. private wealth solutions. Preciously Jones worked at JP Morgan Private Bank as co-head of U.S. alternative investments.

Evercore named Neil Shah as a senior managing director in its advisory practice. Previously he was a managing director at Citi.

SharesPost named Christian Munafoas chief investment officer. Previously he worked at HQ Capital as co-head of the global private equity secondary practice.

Eversheds Sutherland named Stacey T. Kern as a partner in the M&A and private capital teams within the firm’s corporate practice group. Previously she worked at Greenberg Traurig.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc hired three corporate bankers to expand its food and beverage practice: Christopher Addison, Shawn Janko, Jake Nash, who join as managing directors.

Steven Westerback joined Atlantic-Pacific Capital Inc as a partner. He was previously president and head of the Americas for Cebile Capital.

Seven executives joined Pacific Western Bank’s venture capital coverage: Woodrow Thames, James Keeratisakdawong, Audrey Yen, Ryan Matava, Bryce Bewley, Steven Kent and Paul Persichette.

Schulte Roth & Zabel added private equity lawyer Daniel Eisner as a partner in its M&A and securities group. He was previously head of private equity practice at DLA Piper and Proskauer Rose LLP.

DFG Investment Advisers Inc promoted Timothy Milton to partner and named Eduardo Cabral as a managing director.

Proskauer named Leith Moghli as a partner in its global private funds practice. Moghli will be based in London.
