Hugh Briggs is joining CVC Capital Partners at director level. He joins from MidOcean Partners, where he worked on deals including the sale of Laurel Pubs to Greene King in August. CVC has just acquired the printing inks division of BASF and the Automobile Association in a £1.75bn buyout with Permira. CVC closed its most recent European fund at US$4bn in 2001 and currently has US$9bn under management. Since 1981 it has invested in over 235 companies for more then €43bn.

Helen Richards and Pascal Meysson joined Alcentra on November 22. Richards joined as a vice-president and senior analyst covering the leisure and gaming, healthcare and retail sectors. Prior to joining Alcentra, she spent seven years in leveraged finance at NM Rothschild and HSBC.

Meysson also joined as a vice-president and senior analyst, covering issuers from France, Belgium and Spain. Prior to joining Alcentra, he spent eight years in leveraged finance at Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Kleinwort Benson and Charterhouse. Both hires report to David Forbes-Nixon, chief investment officer and head of European operations.

Activa Capital, the Paris-based mid-market private equity firm, has recruited Catherine Molly-Mitton as finance director. She joined Activa from Edmond de Rothschild Private Equity Partners, where she was finance director of the private equity activities, including LBO funds, venture capital funds and funds of funds.

Prior to Edmond de Rothschild Private Equity Partners, she was at Galileo Partners, a French venture capital firm, having spent 10 years previously as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Go Equity, the investor in small and medium-sized Austrian businesses, hired Murli Bhamidipati and Ralf Flore as investment director and investment executive, respectively. Bhamidipati joined after seven years with GE in London and Luxembourg, where he worked in structured finance.
