PE veteran Danes dies after cancer battle

Danes, 46, died on May 13 at her family home in Albany, New York, sister website peHUB reported, citing her obituary. She started her own investment firm, Urbane Point, in 2011. Prior to that, she worked for two years at placement agency MVision Private Equity Advisors. Before that, she spent more than nine years at Capital Z Investment Partners.

Danes graduated from Georgetown University and took an M.S. in economics from the College of Europe. She began her career at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London where her team traveled to and worked as consultants for startup companies in Russia and Eastern Europe, according to her obituary.

She also served as a board member of the Young Survival Coalition, which offers support to young women diagnosed with breast cancer.

From her obituary, which can be viewed here:

She met cancer’s challenge and fought for 11 years, continuing to live life to the fullest, always seeking out new experiences and enjoying all the beauty of life. Her cancer did not define her, and all who knew her were in awe of her strength and determination.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the NYU Langone Medical Center to support the NYU Clinical Cancer Center for breast cancer research under the direction of Dr. Richard Shapiro at giving.nyumc.org/ci, or mail to Jeff Hudson, NYULMC Office of Development, One Park Avenue, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016.
