Andrea Kaufman and Philip Bronner have been promoted to partners at Novak Biddle Venture Partners. Before coming to Novak Biddle, Kaufman practiced law in the corporate finance and venture capital practice of Venable, Baetjer, Howard & Civiletti. Bronner, who focuses on enterprise and education software companies, serves as a director for portfolio companies Approva and Logic Library and is a board observer at NEW Corp. and 4GL School Solutions.

Warren Haber has joined Mellon Ventures as a partner to head its New York office. Prior to joining the firm, Warren served as a partner at Grand

Central Holdings, an early-stage private equity firm. Also joining the New York office as an associate, is Craig Cognetti. He was an assistant vice president in Mellon Financial Corp.

Arun Sarin, CEO of AccelKKR Telecom, has been picked to succeed current Vodafone Group CEO Christopher Gent. Accel-KKR is a technology-focused private equity investment firm founded by venture firm Accel Partners and leveraged buyout firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.

Frank Walsh, former chairman of 1980Ă­s buyout shop Wesray Capital, pled guilty to securities fraud committed while a director of Tyco International. Walsh, 62, was accused of not telling the Tyco board that he received a $20 million finderĂ­s fee in exchange for his help in arranging TycoĂ­s 2001 acquisition of CIT Group.

As part of the plea agreement, Walsh will repay Tyco the $20 million, plus an additional $2.75 million in various legal fines. He will not receive any jail time.

Mike Flaherman, formerly chair of the investment committee of California Public Employees Retirement System, is joining New Mountain Capital as a senior advisor.

Steven Korn, former vice president and chief operating officer of CNN, has joined the advisory board of Schroder Ventures U.S.

Michael Bigham has been named director of Abingworth Management Inc. and as a partner of Abingworth Bioventures III.
