Dr. Ulrich Schumacher, president and CEO of German semiconductor company InfineonTechnologies, will join the advisory board of the CarlyleGroupĂ­s E650 million venture capital fund, Carlyle Europe Venture Partners.

P. Sherrill Neff, managing director of QuakerBioVentures, has been added to the GreaterPhiladelphiaVentureGroupĂ­s board of directors along with seven others. RichardBendis, the current president and CEO of InnovationPhiladelphia; ElizabethHarper, senior vice president for Silicon Valley BankĂ­s Philadelphia Technology regional office; MikeDiPiano, managing partner at NewSpringVentures; TomDrury, a principal with BaseCampVentures; and ChristineJones, a managing partner with EurekaGrowthCapital, have all joined the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group.

Additionally, RobertBlumenthal, the founding partner of Heidrick& StrugglesĂ­ technology practice in Philadelphia, joins the GPVG board of directors after serving for three years as a committee chairman for the Mid Atlantic Venture Conference and, having already made contributions to the GPVG, GaryArlenSmith, a partner in the business transactions practice, was asked to join the board.

SuzanneBergmeister and JasonMahoney have joined Chrysalis Ventures in Louisville as associates. Bergmeister was previously an associate with Blue Chip Venture Co. in Cincinnati specializing in technology investments. Mahoney previously focused on seed-stage and early-stage investments in the software, IT services, optical networking and financial services at Safeguard ScientificsĂ­ affiliated PA Early Stage Fund in Philadelphia.

Lawrence Shagrin has joined Brockway Moran & Partners as a managing director. Shagrin had previously served in the same capacity at William Blair Capital Partners, with a focus on the health care and consumer services.

Dhruv Prasad has joined Spectrum Equity Partners as an associate in the firmĂ­s Boston office. He was most recently with Capital Z Partners in New York and was placed at Spectrum by Glocap Search LLC.

Dr. Itzhak Krinsky has been hired as a managing director with Kiwi Partners Securities Inc., a middle-market M&A boutique. Itzhak was formally a managing director in the M&A group at DeutscheBankAlex. Brown.

Garrett Moran has been appointed president and senior principal with MMC Capital, the private equity investment subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Cos. For the past nine months, he has been working with MMC Capital as a senior advisor.

GregBeattie will head ReedSmithCrosbyHeafeyLLPĂ­s venture and technology practice group. It is the firmĂ­s first worldwide venture and technology practice, which includes attorneys in California, the East Coast and the UK. Beattie is also a founder of the EastBayVentureForum, a non-profit corporation supporting entrepreneurship in the San Francisco Bay Area.

TresThompson has been hired as chief financial officer of SternhillPartners, a Houston-based venture capital firm. Thompson worked in a variety of public accounting and corporate finance roles prior to joining Sternhill. Most recently, he served as chief accounting officer at Q ServicesInc.

Sanjay Jhawar has joined St. Paul Venture CapitalĂ­s communications technology team as an entrepreneur-in-residence in Boston. In this role, he will focus primarily on identifying and developing new venture opportunities in the mobile wireless area. Before joining St. Paul Venture Capital, Jhawar was vice president, at cirlab!, an early-stage venture capital firm in Milan, Italy now known as CIR Ventures and based in Silicon Valley.

Scott Potter has joined LMS Capital as a principal. Potter will be based in the firm’s San Francisco office and will be responsible for LMS Capital’s U.S. portfolio.Prior to joining LMS Capital, Potter was with Inktomi.

Eric Hjerpe has been made a venture principal at Atlas Venture. Hjerpe has spent nearly 15 years experience in the software industry, most recently as senior director of implementation effectiveness at SiebelSystems. He will now be based in Atlas VentureĂ­s Waltham, Mass. office.

Robert Jenks has been named a chief financial officer with Internap Network Services Corp. Jenks was previously with GeneralElectric, where he was responsible for the companyĂ­s global private equity investment activity in the communications industry.

EdwardClark has been named executive vice president, chief financial officer and general counsel for EmergentTechnologies Inc., an Austin-based venture firm that specializes in biotech investments. He was previously a consultant to the company.

Jeffery Teevan has been promoted to principal with Kansas City Equity Partners (KCEP). Teeven, who joined the firm in August 1997, previously served as vice president. He focuses on branded consumer and specialty retail companies. Prior to joining KCEP, Teeven worked as a consultant for KPMG.
