Susan Long has been named a vice president at Pantheon Ventures, a global private equity firm. There, she will be responsible for evaluating private equity fund managers and formulating investment strategies for the primary fund-of-funds investment team. Long will be based out of Pantheons San Francisco office. Prior to joining Pantheon, Long was a principal at Capital Z Partners.

David Turner has signed on at WestAM as a director in the firms private equity group. He will focus mostly on buyout investments. For the past three years, Turner has directed the investment and management activities of the State of Michigan alternative investment portfolio.

Andrew Kauth and John Machock have been named principals at Itros Capital Management LLC, a hedge fund management firm primarily focused on health-care investments. Both will be responsible for day-to-day analysis of health-care stocks. Additionally, Kauth will handle client relations and marketing of the fund to potential investors. Kauth hails from Prudential Securities Inc., where he was vice president of health-care institutional equity sales. Most recently, Machock was a health-care equity analyst with Invesco Funds Group in Denver.

Christopher Dean and Sotiris T.F. Lyritzis have been named vice presidents at Boston-based Summit Partners. Dean, who will work out of the firms headquarters, will focus on communications, software and technology investments. Previously, Dean has worked for such companies as Morgan Stanley, Whitney & Co. and Sun Microsystems. Lyritzis, who will be based in London, co-founded Elabseurope, where he was a member of the board and director of business development.
